This course introduces students to the steps necessary to analyze a problem in information technology and identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to its solution, with a focus on how to design, implement and evaluate a computer-based system, process, component or program to meet desired needs. Students learn to analyze the local and global impact of computing on individuals, organizations and society. This course leads students to recognize the need for continuing professional development and imparts an understanding of professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues and responsibilities in information technology.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

  1. To provide students with a strong foundation of integrated IT based solution based on analysis, design, implementation, and testing.
  2. To make students to be able to select and apply current techniques and IT tools necessary for computing practices and integrate IT based Solutions into the user environment effectively.
  3. To enable students for analysing real life problem, provide technically sound solutions that are economically feasible and socially acceptable.
  4. To provide exposure to emerging cutting edge technologies, adequate training & opportunities to work as a team on multidisciplinary projects with effective communication skills and leadership qualities.
  5. To promote an understanding of lifelong learning and research temperament.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

The programme is targeted at developing amongst students competencies, skills and abilities using which they shall be:
  1. Able to design, implement and evaluate a computer based system or process component to meet desired needs.
  2. Able to develop IT solutions for complex problems and design system component or processes that meet the specified needs considerations for public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental issues.
  3. Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, hardware and software resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modelling critical activities, with an understanding of their limitations.
  4. Able to act as a team member or a leader to accomplish the common goal in a multidisciplinary team.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of project management, finance management principles and system working and apply these to manage large IT projects in multidisciplinary environments.
