Lightboard Studio

A Lightboard is part chalkboard and part projection screen that floats course content in the space between the instructor and their student audience. This device generates a kind of virtual reality that engages student learners in a way that traditional online learning platforms cannot. Although the glass panel is completely invisible to the viewers, it provides a surface upon which the instructor can write bright, legible writing against a black background, all the while facing the student audience.

Faculty can create a single scene where students observe the instructor, the board, computer-generated graphics (PowerPoint, graphs, photos) and any physical objects (models, instruments, etc.) that are a critical part of the lesson. Once edited, these videos may be shared with students using YouTube or other multimedia sources.

The faculty of PHCET has implemented this facility. The faculty records the lectures and share it with students using various resources.

Major capabilities / features of light board are described as follows:
  1. Image Overlay: Image can be used to annotate in real time during lectures to explain the content enhancing better visual understanding.
  2. PPT Interface: Power point containing images, videos, animation can be interfaced live during lecture to make it more informative.
  3. Video: Any online and offline video can be projected on screen to make it interactive with lecturer, by also having control to play, pause and stop.
  4. Screen Cast: The laptop or PC screen to explain any software or coding, can be cast on board with 100% visibility, various transparencies and also screen share with screen cast.
  5. Real Setup: Any real instrument, device or setup can be demonstrated by annotating its reference on screen for more real and practical understanding.
  6. Live Webcam Interface: Multiple webcam can also be projected on board live for showing various in hand small components or notes from book etc.
  7. Ghost Projection: During screen cast, video, image or PPT interface the speaker can have live appearance to navigate through various sections of boards with various transparencies.
